# Two-qubit operations on the Transmon qubit

We’re getting closer to the total picture! Classically we have logic gates as the building block of our computer. For quantum computers, these are two-qubit gates. And once again, for a qubit to be useful, an important measure is if we can perform these gates with a high fidelity. In this video, Adriaan Rol will elaborate on the two-qubit gate on the Transmon qubit.

But what mediates this interaction between qubits? And what are the experimental challenges when implementing the gates with high fidelity? Adriaan will cover all these questions in the video below.

## Prerequisite knowledge

## Further thinking

We have seen that introducing a flux changes the difference in the energy levels of the system. This is used in order to couple different qubits, allowing for example the realisation of a c-phase gate. Do you think this gate is enough or should other 2-qubit gates be implemented as well? Why do you think people have implemented a c-phase gate instead of others?

You can read some more about the optimization of the shape of these pulses in this paper by J. Martinis & M. Geller. It is quite a theoretical paper but will give you an idea of the research which is done.

Also, read this nature paper by T. Bekkegaard et al. on the most recent suggestion for optimization of gates on the transmon qubit.
